I love wood fire and brick oven style pizza, so when I heard about one opening up near my place of residence, I was very excited to say the least. I imagined pizza that would taste as good as Peel in Edwardsville, IL, or Crushed Red in Clayton, MO, however, after eating there I can say my assumptions were very wrong. Let's start of by saying when we arrived at The Brick, there was only six other patrons sitting at two different tables with three apiece. For the place being pretty empty the service was horrible. It took forever for a server to come and greet us and when he finally did it took over 10 minutes for us to get our drinks. Next we ordered our appetizer and pizzas, we ordered an extra one so we could take it with us to the drive-in movie theater for later that night. Soon later the appetizer was ready and sat at the counter for another good 10 minutes before another waiter had to come over and give us the order because our waiter was to busy talking to someone at the bar. When our pizzas came out the other waiter had to bring us our pizza because again our waiter was to busy talking to that same someone at the bar. But after all that, it was water under the bridge. We had our pizzas and it looked pretty good, however, looks can be deceiving because that was by far the worst pizza I have ever had in my entire life. My wife actually commented that she would have rather had a Tombstone pizza. While Tombstone isn't bad, I would hope that a restaurant claiming to have great pizza would taste a little better then a $3 frozen pizza from the grocery store. Even our 5 year old son commented on the taste and he'll pretty much eat anything. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement and to add insult to injury the service never improved. Our waiter never came over to see how it tasted. Never came back to refill our drinks, since he was still talking to his lady friend at the bar, and only came back after we flagged him down after sitting at our table for while after we were finished with our meal. The only positive thing that this restaurant had going for it was they had a game room for the kids and even that was lackluster and for a place that just opened up having mini foosball game that was already warped beyond play was icing on the cake.

As for our family - most of that first pizza and the extra pizza did not get eaten that night at the drive-in, and actually sat in our fridge until my wife threw it out with the garbage because it wasn't good anymore. No one in our house would touch it.

So to anyone looking for exceptional pizza, avoid this place at all cost. If you want an all around good pizza, visit Peel in Edwardsville as you will not be disappointed. They have outstanding wood fire pizza, sandwiches, desserts and a really great selection of beers.
